Poetic Paintings by Pam Schaard

Spring Floods @ Treasure Island

Today I will paint a great beginning at the lake;
every moment, just a new brush stroke;
my canvas has awoke.

The music of Spring;
speaks to me with gentle sound,
overlapping water surrounding Treasure Island around.

Geese & Ducks call aloud;
Bluebirds, and Cardinals chirp and sing,
waiting to fly high and take wing.

The shoreline twists and turns;
around the docks, rocks, and bumps;
overflowing the banks through trees and stumps.

Water & waves splashing everywhere;
sand and red clay spread here and there.

Dashing deep up jumps bass fish;
granting a morning fisherman's wish.

Mixing watercolor blue, black, and gray;
Spring has arrived, it's here to stay.

Buds appear as bare trees show;
Trees up high and flowers down low,
Gentle rain, then thunder, and rainbow loom.

Stroke by stroke, the painting comes near;
Spring at Kerr Lake is finally here,
as the signs begin to appear.

It brings to me new thoughts to paint;
up and down, this way and that way;
back and forth, impressions of the day.

Oktoberfest @ Kerr Lake

The clay colored water turns into a kaleidoscope

as Oktoberfest

makes itself known on Kerr Lake.

Beautiful colored leaves;

sway in the crisp Autumn breeze.

Reflections on the water;

red, orange, yellow, green

can be seen.

Leaves drop;

gliding down as they please,

from all the shedding trees.

Swirling across the canvas;

the artist's brush stroke becomes magical,

capturing nature's painting in full motion.

Summertime Sunset @ Kerr Lake

Evening
comes;
a blank canvas comes to life,
brush strokes dabble the sky from my pallet.

Stunning colors;
           a mixture of yellow, orange and red;
sunbeams cast across the water and spread.

Clouds float by
across the sky;
captured by my paintbrush;
day ends with a peaceful rush.

High up;
making swirls of white, gray and blue,
completing this perfect hue.

Eagles & osprey glide,
making sunset their last evening ride.

Crickets, cicadas, and frogs all around,
nighttime darkness begins the sound.

Silhouettes reflect along waters edge,
shoreline laced with trees and hedge.

Water ripples, shadows dance,
all part of this painting's enhance.

Kerr Lake cools the evening fire,
as Sunset Cove is about to retire.

A blend of life and beauty cease,
much faster than I create my master piece.

Winter Staccato @ Kerr Lake

Silence.

The world is now detached from the lake;.
sleeping not about to awake.

A short walk down to the water's edge;
crunching along the trail
brushstrokes of a sky so blue and pale.

Snow bending pine tree branches
everything is covered by a winter blanket;
such a thrill,
this early morning chill.

Daytime, the sun cast shadows everywhere
over here and over there.

The forest and lake are still, cold, and bright white;
the sun warmth glow, so light.

The lake is silent here,
for it is that time of year.

I use a simple pallet now upon this white canvas.
